SEA LIFE Malaysia Fills Its Ocean Tanks in Preparation for the Arrival of 13,000 Marine Life

ISKANDAR PUTERI, 15 December 2018 – SEA LIFE Malaysia, an interactive aquarium which is a new enhancement of LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort, has reached another milestone in its construction with the filling of the Ocean tank, which will consist of 400,000-gallon of water once filled. The Ocean tank which is the largest tank in the aquarium, will house a replica of a historic shipwreck, Wanli and be entirely themed to look like you are walking through the shipwreck with LEGO® elements spread out for display.

Once the tanks have been filled, SEA LIFE aquarists will be working diligently to get the water quality and salt content ready for the arrival of marine life including Black Tip Reef Shark, Zebra shark, stingrays, seahorses, jelly fish and more. All 13,000 sea creatures will be arriving to their new home by early 2019.

At the water fill event, South East Asia’s first SEA LIFE Junior Rangers made their debut as the young ambassador of SEA LIFE Malaysia. The 18 rangers, hailing from Malaysia and Singapore are the voice of the marine sanctuary and will be at the forefront of leading SEA LIFE’s marine conservation efforts. These children were chosen based on a video that they had submitted about their passion for marine life conservation and represent the new generation and their love for keeping the balance of ocean life in check.

“The water fill is our third major milestone as we look to launch SEA LIFE Malaysia by the first half of 2019. SEA LIFE Malaysia will refresh our offerings to Malaysians and provide a new experience to visitors from all over the world. It will also allow us to engage children in a meaningful way and enable them to learn through play. The interactive aquarium is designed to be a great introduction for children of all ages to marine life. Through SEA LIFE, our young generation will be introduced to the marine life and this will allow them to appreciate and, learn on ways to conserve our delicate ocean,” said Kurt Stocks, General Manager at LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort.

“SEA LIFE Malaysia’s ambition to teach our next generation to love and care for our marine life is in line with Shark Savers Malaysia’s mission to encourage conservation of our marine life. We look forward to collaborating with their passionate junior rangers in order to promote awareness and deepen knowledge about sharks,” said Abner Yap, President of Shark Savers Malaysia.
